Where to Buy Helium for Party Balloons

Planning a party and want to add a touch of whimsy with helium-filled balloons? You're in the right place. Helium is the key ingredient that makes balloons float, and there are several places where you can buy it. Let's explore your options, from local party supply stores to online retailers, and even DIY helium tank refills.

Before we dive in, it's important to note that helium is a non-renewable resource, and it's crucial to use it responsibly. Always follow safety guidelines when handling helium, and consider eco-friendly alternatives like air-filled balloons for some of your party decor.

Local Party Supply Stores

Your local party supply store is often the most convenient place to buy helium for party balloons. They typically offer balloon inflation services, where you can purchase a certain number of balloons and they'll inflate them with helium for you.

However, helium prices can vary greatly from store to store, so it's a good idea to call ahead and compare prices. Also, be sure to ask about their balloon sizes and quantities, as some stores may have limitations.

Party City

Party City is a popular choice for party supplies, and they offer helium tank refills for a fee. You can bring your own tank or purchase one from them. Prices vary by location, so be sure to check their website or call your local store for details.

They also provide balloon inflation services, with a variety of balloon sizes and colors to choose from. Plus, you can often find coupons and discounts on their website to help you save.

Other Local Stores

Other local party supply stores, like Dollar Tree, Walmart, or your local grocery store, may also offer helium balloon inflation services. It's always a good idea to call ahead and check their availability and prices.

Some of these stores may not have helium tanks on-site, so they might use a helium canister that they exchange for a refill fee. Be sure to ask about their policies and prices.

Online Retailers

If you prefer the convenience of shopping from home, there are several online retailers that sell helium tanks and refills. This option is great if you need a large quantity of helium or want to save time by avoiding trips to the store.

However, keep in mind that shipping helium can be expensive and may not be an option in all areas due to safety regulations. Always check the retailer's website for shipping details and restrictions.

Amazon

Amazon is a popular choice for purchasing helium tanks online. You can find a variety of tank sizes and brands, as well as refill kits. Be sure to read the product descriptions carefully, as some tanks may only be suitable for certain types of balloons.

Amazon also offers Prime shipping, which can help you save on shipping costs if you're a Prime member. However, always check if helium tanks are eligible for Prime shipping in your area.

Welding Supply Stores

Welding supply stores are another option for purchasing helium tanks online. These stores typically carry industrial-grade helium tanks, which may be more expensive but also offer a larger volume of helium.

Some welding supply stores may also offer refill services for your helium tank. Be sure to check their website or give them a call to inquire about their services and prices.

Helium.com

Helium.com is an online retailer specializing in helium products. They offer a variety of helium tank sizes, as well as refill kits and accessories. They also provide helpful resources, like a helium calculator to help you determine how much helium you need for your party.

Helium.com offers free shipping on orders over $99, which can help you save on shipping costs if you're purchasing a larger quantity of helium.

DIY Helium Tank Refills

If you're planning to use helium for multiple parties or events, you might consider purchasing a helium tank and refilling it yourself. This can be a cost-effective option in the long run, as refills are typically less expensive than purchasing new tanks.

There are several companies that offer helium tank refills, both online and in-person. Some welding supply stores and party supply stores may also offer refill services. Be sure to check their websites or give them a call to inquire about their services and prices.

Welding Supply Stores

Welding supply stores are a popular choice for helium tank refills. They typically carry a variety of tank sizes and can refill your tank quickly and efficiently. Some welding supply stores may also offer discounts for refills, so be sure to ask about their policies.

However, keep in mind that welding supply stores may have minimum refill requirements, so this option might not be the best choice if you only need a small amount of helium.

Helium Tank Exchange Programs

Some online retailers and local stores offer helium tank exchange programs. With these programs, you can exchange your empty helium tank for a full one at a discounted price. This can be a convenient and cost-effective option, as you don't have to worry about shipping or refilling your tank.

To find a helium tank exchange program near you, simply search online for "helium tank exchange" along with your city or state. You can also check the websites of local party supply stores and welding supply stores to see if they offer exchange programs.

In summary, there are numerous places to buy helium for party balloons, from local party supply stores to online retailers. Consider your budget, the quantity of helium you need, and your preferred shopping method when choosing the best option for you. Always remember to use helium responsibly and follow safety guidelines to ensure a fun and safe party experience.
