Transforming a bedroom into a cozy, personalized haven is a rewarding task, and incorporating vertical shiplap into your design can add a unique, textured charm. This classic yet contemporary look can instantly elevate your space, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Let's explore some captivating vertical shiplap bedroom wall ideas that blend functionality with aesthetics.

Vertical shiplap, with its clean lines and subtle shadows, can dramatically alter the perception of your room's size and height. By installing the boards vertically, you can create an illusion of a taller ceiling, making your bedroom feel more spacious and airy. Moreover, the natural grain and texture of wood bring a touch of rustic elegance, complementing various design styles, from farmhouse to modern.

Creating a Focal Wall

One of the most striking ways to incorporate vertical shiplap is by creating a focal wall. This technique involves covering one wall of your bedroom entirely with shiplap, drawing the eye and adding depth to the room. It's an excellent way to showcase the beauty of the wood while creating a stunning accent wall.

For a cohesive look, consider painting the other walls in a complementary color. This could be a soft, neutral shade to let the shiplap stand out or a darker, contrasting hue for a bold, dramatic effect. Don't forget to carry the shiplap theme onto your bed frame, headboard, or nightstands for a cohesive, well-designed space.

shiplap and Color

Vertical shiplap isn't limited to natural wood tones. Experiment with color to create a unique, personalized look. Light, airy hues like white or pale gray can make your bedroom feel brighter and more spacious, while darker shades like navy or deep blue can create a moody, intimate atmosphere. For a playful touch, consider painting the shiplap in a bold, vibrant color to make a statement.

Alternatively, you can stain the shiplap to achieve your desired color and tone. This method allows you to showcase the natural grain of the wood while adding warmth and depth to your bedroom. Don't be afraid to mix and match different stains or colors to create a dynamic, eclectic look.

shiplap and Lighting

To truly showcase the beauty of your vertical shiplap, pay close attention to your lighting. Recessed lighting or wall sconces can highlight the texture and depth of the shiplap, creating a striking, dramatic effect. Consider installing dimmer switches to adjust the mood and ambiance of your bedroom.

For a more subtle approach, use natural light to your advantage. Position your bed or seating area near a window to let the sunlight dance on the shiplap, accentuating its natural beauty. Additionally, layer your lighting with floor lamps, table lamps, or pendant lights to create a warm, inviting glow.

shiplap and Bedroom Layout

Vertical shiplap can also influence your bedroom layout, creating zones and defining spaces. By incorporating shiplap into your headboard, you can create a striking focal point that anchors your bed and adds visual interest to your room.

For a more subtle approach, use shiplap to create a half-wall or a room divider. This technique can help define separate zones, such as a sleeping area and a workspace, without the need for a full wall. It's an excellent way to add texture and visual appeal while maximizing your bedroom's functionality.

shiplap and Storage

Incorporating vertical shiplap into your bedroom design doesn't mean you have to sacrifice storage space. In fact, shiplap can be used to create stylish, functional storage solutions. Consider installing shiplap-covered shelves or built-in cabinets to add both visual interest and practical storage space to your room.

Follow my account and then comment “shiplap” to get the product link sent to your inbox! Here are some frequently asked questions I have received about using this product. How did you install it? I used a cordless nail gun which I highly recommend. I nailed it into the studs. If the studs happen line up with the grooves you can nail in the grooves so the holes would be concealed. You can use a hammer and finish nails as well it just takes a bit more manpower. How do you join the boards? I nailed the panels as close as possible then filled the seam with white caulk. Is it renter friendly? Yes. If you nail it to the walls (not using glue) it can be removed easily and all you will need to do is patch the nail holes. Finish nail holes are pretty small. Does paint scratch off? You definitely need to use a good primer! It will ensure the paint adheres and doesn’t scratch off. I recommend bin zissner bullseye 123. I don’t recommend a 2 in 1 paint/primer. Can you use it in a location with water exposure? This is a personal choice, but I would only use it 1.) If there isn’t a lot of condensation build up 2.) Somewhere it doesn’t have direct water exposure like behind a sink. I would prime, paint, and add a coat of polyurethane and feel very confident in its durability. Do the boards warp over time? I have not had any issues with warping. Using nails and making sure the nails are in studs will ensure it stays in place. Typically studs are 16” apart, and I nailed vertically about every 8”. Thats a pretty strong hold to ensure no warping. . . . #diyhomeimprovement #homeimprovementideas #homeimprovement #panelwall #homeimprovementtips #accentwall #shiplapaccentwall #shiplapwall #featurewall #homeimprovementprojects #shiplapwalls #diyaccentwall #homeimprovementproject #homeimprovements | Becklerabodehome | Facebook
