Players Championship 12: Wessel Nijman wins fifth ranking title of 2026 as Beau Greaves suffers last-16 exit

Wessel Nijman maintained his astonishing start to 2026 by securing his fourth Players Championship - and fifth ranking title - of the year at the latest tournament in Milton Keynes.

Nijman, who also won the European Darts Trophy in March, secured an impressive 8-5 victory over Jermaine Wattimena in an all-Dutch final at Players Championship 12 to follow up his wins at PC2, PC8 and PC10.

Beau Greaves, who made history on Monday night by winning PC11 to become the first woman to win a PDC ranking title, was knocked out in the last 16 on Tuesday.

Andy Bissell whitewashed Greaves 6-0, before beating Max Hopp 6-3 in the quarter-finals before he too came unstuck against Nijman, losing 7-4 in their semi-final.

That set up the final with Wattimena for Nijman, with the former enjoying the better of the early exchanges, courtesy of some clinical combination finishing.

Wattimena established an early 4-2 cushion as he sought to claim his first ranking title since October, only for Nijman to win six of the next seven legs to wrap up an impressive 8-5 victory.

"It was kind of a nervy final. I went behind after missing some doubles," reflected Nijman, who leapfrogs Wattimena and breaks into the world's top 16 for the first time

"I'm so happy I kept it together. There were some finishes I hit with the last dart, the 57 [to go 6-5 up] was important.

"When it clicks together and you play those finals, and you've been playing those games all day long, the next time you come, you remember that."
