Transform your living space with a personalized touch by creating your own Ottoman Table Cover. This DIY project not only adds a unique charm to your room but also allows you to customize it according to your style and needs. Let's dive into a step-by-step guide to help you create the perfect Ottoman Table Cover.

Before we begin, gather your materials. You'll need fabric of your choice, scissors, measuring tape, a sewing machine, thread that matches your fabric, and an old sheet or drop cloth to protect your work surface.

Choosing the Right Fabric

Selecting the right fabric is crucial for the longevity and aesthetics of your Ottoman Table Cover. Opt for durable, easy-to-clean materials like cotton, linen, or polyester. For a more luxurious feel, you could also use velvet or faux leather.

Consider the size of your ottoman and the desired coverage. Most ottomans are around 18" to 24" in diameter, so measure yours and add a few inches for overhang on all sides.

Measuring and Cutting

Measure the diameter of your ottoman and add 4-6 inches to account for overhang. Cut your fabric to this size. For example, if your ottoman is 20" in diameter, cut your fabric to 28" x 28".

Next, measure the height of your ottoman. Cut four strips of fabric, each measuring the height plus 1 inch (for seam allowance) by the circumference of your ottoman plus 1 inch (for seam allowance). For instance, if your ottoman is 18" high, cut strips that are 19" x 56" (20" circumference + 1" seam allowance).

Sewing the Side Panels

Sew the four side panels together, right sides facing in, using a 1/2" seam allowance. Start and end at the bottom of one of the panels to create a continuous piece.

Press the seams open to prevent bulk. This will be the main body of your table cover, which will fit snugly around your ottoman.

Attaching the Top and Bottom Panels

Now, let's create the top and bottom panels. These will be simple circles that fit within the side panels you've just sewn.

To create the circles, trace around a large bowl or plate that's slightly smaller than the diameter of your ottoman onto your fabric. Cut out two of these circles for the top and bottom panels.

Sewing the Top Panel

Sew the top panel to the top edge of your side panels, right sides facing in, using a 1/2" seam allowance. Leave the bottom edge of the side panels open for now.

Press the seam allowance towards the side panels. This will be the top of your table cover, which will sit neatly on top of your ottoman.

Sewing the Bottom Panel

Sew the bottom panel to the bottom edge of your side panels, right sides facing in, using a 1/2" seam allowance. This will be the underside of your table cover.

Press the seam allowance towards the side panels. Now, your table cover should be fully sewn except for the opening at the bottom.

Your Ottoman Table Cover is almost complete! The final step is to finish the raw edges and add any embellishments you like. For a clean finish, you can hem the bottom edge with a simple fold-over hem or add a contrasting binding.

Once you've finished your table cover, simply place it over your ottoman. It should fit snugly, providing a stylish and protective layer for your furniture. Enjoy your handiwork and the unique touch it brings to your space!
