However, it's essential to consider the type of furniture you have and its current condition before applying Cuprinol Garden Shades. While this paint is versatile, it works best on clean, dry, and sound surfaces. Let's explore the suitability of Cuprinol Garden Shades for different types of garden furniture.

Wooden Furniture

Cuprinol Garden Shades is an excellent choice for wooden furniture. It penetrates deep into the wood, providing a long-lasting, weather-resistant finish. Whether you have a wooden bench, table, or chairs, this paint will not only enhance their appearance but also protect them from the elements.

Before applying Cuprinol Garden Shades, ensure your wooden furniture is clean, dry, and free from any loose paint or flaking wood. Sanding the surface lightly will also help the paint adhere better and provide a smoother finish. Remember, Cuprinol Garden Shades is not suitable for pressure-treated or cedar wood, as the paint may not adhere properly or could cause discoloration.

Metal Furniture

Cuprinol Garden Shades can also be used on metal furniture, offering a durable, weatherproof finish. It's perfect for transforming old, rusty metal furniture into vibrant, eye-catching pieces. However, it's crucial to prepare the metal surface correctly to ensure the paint adheres properly and lasts.

Begin by cleaning the metal surface thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease, or rust. Sanding the surface lightly will also help the paint adhere better. Once the surface is clean and dry, apply a metal primer to seal the surface and provide a better base for the Cuprinol Garden Shades. Always ensure the metal is completely dry before painting to prevent rust from forming underneath the paint.

Plastic garden furniture & storage You will need: a good exterior primer and garden paint like @cuprinol_uk shades or @rustoleumuk garden paint. 2. Vinyl pool Exactly the same as above. My pool is textured slightly with a matt finish so the paint does not come off. If you have a shiny vinyl pool I would recommend testing the paint on an area before committing to the whole thing. 3. Radiators. You need an interior primer and then around 2-3 coats of interior eggshell paint. 4. Patio slabs. You need a good quality exterior primer & some good quality masonry paint like @duluxuk weathershield. Don’t skip the primer and don’t buy cheap masonry paint, you’ll regret it. 5. Bathroom sink This one is a bit of a one off as my sink was uocycled using a concrete planter. I personally wouldn’t paint porcelain but if you sink is made from a non shiny material then paint away. Again, I’d use an exterior primer as it will be getting wet and then eggshell paint. 6. Vinyl floor. I painted this floor 7 years ago and although it could do with a freshen up, it’s lasted VERY well. So if you want to upgrade your vinyl flooring on the cheap, use an interior primer and then emulsion paint as it’s quick drying followed by a couple of coats of sealant. Let me know if you have any questions. | I am Hayley Stuart | Facebook

3. **Remove Loose Paint**: If your furniture has any loose or peeling paint, remove it using a paint scraper or sandpaper. Ensure the surface is smooth and even before painting.

4. **Allow the Surface to Dry**: After cleaning and sanding, allow the furniture to dry completely. This could take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the humidity and temperature.

AD

5. **Apply a Primer (if necessary)**: While Cuprinol Garden Shades is a primer in its own right, applying a separate primer can enhance the paint's adhesion and durability, especially on metal surfaces.

Applying Cuprinol Garden Shades

Once your furniture is prepared, you're ready to apply Cuprinol Garden Shades. Here are some tips to help you achieve a professional-looking finish:

1. **Choose the Right Brush**: Use a good-quality synthetic brush with stiff bristles for better paint coverage and a smoother finish.

2. **Apply Even Coats**: Apply the paint in thin, even coats, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next. This will help you achieve a smooth, consistent finish and prevent drips or runs.

3. **Paint in the Right Conditions**: Apply Cuprinol Garden Shades in dry, well-ventilated conditions, with temperatures between 10°C and 30°C. Avoid painting in direct sunlight or high humidity, as this can affect the paint's drying time and finish.

4. **Allow the Paint to Cure**: After the final coat, allow the paint to cure for at least 24 hours before using the furniture. This will ensure the paint has fully hardened and provides optimum protection.

Incorporating Cuprinol Garden Shades into your garden furniture transformation project can add a touch of vibrancy and personality to your outdoor space. With its wide range of colors, excellent durability, and ease of application, it's an ideal choice for giving your furniture a fresh, new look. So, go ahead and unleash your creativity, and enjoy the process of transforming your garden furniture with Cuprinol Garden Shades.
